The Parental Identity Development Model was created by Mercedes Samudio, LCSW.

Through her years of experience in the mental health field, Mercedes has developed a model that explores how parents develop a sense of identity as they navigate the journey of parenthood.

This model is being taught to graduate students, professionals, agencies, and mental health advocates to support the shift from blaming parents for their issues and struggles to truly understanding how we develop our parental identities.
